STEM
Thurgood Marshall Academy Lower School students experience Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) twice to three times a week. Students engage in hands-on experiments that expand their innovative thinking and expose them to opportunities that foster curiosity in the field of STEM.
Students receive direct instruction that allows them to get the content vocabulary needed for discussions and presentations of their findings. They conduct experiments to test their theories and prove their hypothesis. They learn about experts in the field of STEM. Students attend field trips to deepen their understanding. The field trips help students grasp that learning can occur beyond the classroom.
